Food and Mood

Integrative Dietitian

Using Evidence-Based Practice to Help You Be Your Best, Feel Your Best, and Live Your Best.

As an integrative clinical dietitian, licensed in VT, I believe in a whole systems approach. By expanding my view from the analysis of a specific organ system to analyzing the individual as a whole, including lifestyle, physical symptoms, and diet, I am better able to find the root cause of a disease pattern and better serve the client. I use the latest in evidence-based nutrition practice to review and analyze medical history, symptoms, diet history, and lifestyle to discover the path to full health and wellbeing that works for each individual. From a biological perspective, every body is unique so you can expect nutrition and meal plans to always be customized for your specific needs and to mesh easily with your lifestyle.

I am especially passionate about working with individuals in addiction recovery. I take an evidence-based approach using cutting-edge research in the relationship between diet, the gut-brain axis, and addiction to provide custom-tailored nutrition advice and care plans that help replete nutrient deficiencies, restore nutrient and microbiome balance to curb cravings and promote mental and physical wellbeing.

With nearly two decades of studying yoga including asana, pranayama, yogic philosophy, and Ayurveda, I incorporate an East Meets West perspective into my work. I believe in an integrative and functional nutrition approach, seeing every client as a complex individual with unique needs to optimize physical and mental wellbeing.

Areas of Expertise: food and mood, nutrition therapy for addiction recovery, GI microbiome, gut-brain axis, food allergy & sensitivity, energy recovery & maintenance, diabetes management, pregnancy and lactation, IBS, IBD, and more!

Allison's Education Background

Allison earned a Masters degree in Nutrition and Health Promotion from Simmons College. Her research focused on the relationship between diet, mental health, and addiction.

Allison completed her dietetic internship through the University of Delaware Dietetic Internship program where she was able to work with the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps Heath Care Share initiative, gain valuable food service management and clinical experience at Gifford Medical Center, and continued to hone her knowledge and expertise.

Allison earned her Reiki Master Teacher and Therapeutic Energetic Reconnection (TER) certifications through The Spirit of Healing in Longmeadow, MA. With nearly a decade of experience working in these modalities, she would be happy to incorporate Reiki and/or TER into sessions as they work seamlessly from any distance and are wonderful adjunct treatments to medical nutrition therapy.
